Belle Haven

Belle Haven is situated across from Occohannock Creek and gets its name from an old house that was once a tavern dating back to 1764. Belle Haven has many stately homes and well manicured lawns and is in close proximity to Sheilds Bridge and Rues Wharf where in the late 1880’s steamboats once stopped. To cross the bridge there was a 5 cent toll for pedestrians and 10 cents for hoarse and buggy.
